Proper Care

1. Aquariums should be filled with water that has been properly treated with water conditioner. Conditioning the water helps to eliminate harmful chemicals. AquaSafe sells conditioners in different sized bottles with instructions on how much to use based on aquarium size.

2. Maintaining the water quality will require weekly conditioning, and if the aquarium is new biweekly doses of good bacteria. TopFin offers bacteria supplements that boost the quality of the tank water.

3. No matter the size ALL aquariums should have the rocks/gravel cleaned once a week or biweekly to remove food debris and keep the nitrite levels in the tank at the proper levels.

4. Be sure to have the water in the aquarium tested periodically. Most local petshops either sell the required materials or will provide a testing service.
